Tally de Orellana, born Natalia, is an interdisciplinary curator who operates at the crossroads of identity politics and art. Her projects, recognized by the Financial Times, Hyperallergic, and Studio International, emphasize collaboration and forge connections across various borders and disciplines.

She’s presently the interim director at the Batsford Gallery, as well as assistant
editor for Scala Arts & Heritage, where she works in the publication of titles dedicated to music, art, and photography, and serves as Director of the Archivo Orellana.

Born in Spain and raised in Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, she has worked and collaborated on exhibitions and cultural projects in Europe, Great Britain, and the US since 2006. Between 2015 and 2016, she was the curatorial fellow at Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago) and development coordinator at Elastic Arts (Chicago). She then held the 2016-2017 Hilla Rebay International Fellowship at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, working in their exhibitions programming in New York, Bilbao, and Venice. In 2018, she was named the Daniel W. Dietrich II curatorial fellowship in Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she worked in the development of the collection and the inaugural exhibition of the new museum wing.

Tally graduated from the dual degree program: Arts Administration and Policy, & Modern Art History, Theory and Criticism (2016) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and holds an MA in Art History and Architecture from The University of Edinburgh (UK, 2012). Her research interests target the role of cultural institutions and curatorial practices in the systems of classification and formation of cultural hierarchies. Related areas of interest include systems of formation of artistic identity and postcolonial theory.
